STICKS
We see dogs with throat injuries due to sticks. This happens particularly when a stick lands with one end in the ground and a sharp point up. If a dog dives on to it, the stick can penetrate the back of the throat. Sometimes it causes a laceration and other times it becomes lodged. This video clip is of a stick being pulled out of a dog’s mouth. It had penetrated the back of the throat, gone down the neck and broken off so it was not visible and had to be retrieved with forceps
